Da Xuan is a Daoist tradition of practices and philosophy for the complete development of the human being.
Serge Augier (aka the Urban Daoist) is the current heir to the tradition, which has preserved and transmitted its practices from generation to generation for more than 1500 years. While being Chinese in origin, this rich and unique tradition is specifically non-cultural and non-religious. It is concerned with the development of human qualities, and as such is open to anyone of any culture or belief.

Daoism (or Taoism) originates in China, with its roots in the indigenous shamanic practices of the culture, and is commonly held to have been formalised in the 6th century BC culminating in Lao Tzu’s classic work ‘Dao De Jing’.
A practical philosophy, Daoism teaches us about the way or ‘Dao’, through the concept of duality, Yin and Yang, and the principles of non-resistance, going with the changes of the world.
Da Xuan is a uniquely complete system in the modern world. Handed down orally through a clan structure, the school contains many methods for working on the three primary areas of the human being: the physical body, the breath and the mind. We teach the classic internal martial arts for health, physical evolution and self defense (Tai Chi, Xing Yi, Bagua); internal alchemy (nei dan) for development of the breath and energy; training of the mind and spirituality (shen gong); the work on the emotions (xin yi dao yin fa), and the practices of internal work (qi gong & nei gong).
Our tradition also contains a wide range of practical academic studies: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Daoist Medicine, Feng Shui, Bazi, Yi Jing, and more.Click here to read more about our practices
